Marsha P. Johnson was one of the most-loved personalities in Greenwich Village & wherever else she wandered. She couldn't sing, dance or act but she had a special way of connecting with everyone, whether they were part of an audience or just passers-by on the street. These "clips" capture that special "realness", that total openness which captured the hearts of all who knew her. Today, "Marsha P. Johnson" is a minor figure in gay history books, a personality brought back to life through contemporary musicals. This video will introduce you to each other. Future videos will capture her life story, ended by a hate crime in July 1992.
Christina was assaulted while using the women's toilet at McDonald's, 5th Ave & 34th St., NYC. Her frightening story speaks for itself. Her being able to tell her story to hundreds of others in Madison Square Park, with a rally permit issued by the NYC Police Department, guarded against attack by uniformed NYC Police Officers, demonstrates that free speech is alive & well in NYC. Where else would uniformed policemen dutifully protect a gathering of citizens publicly describing incident after incident of police misconduct?
Anyone "assigned 'female' at birth" who feels that categorization is in error is welcome to join the TransMasculine Community Network, www.tmcnetwork.com . This unique video examines one of the newest groups to appear on the gender-variant scene. Join me in watching this group of handsome young males join NYC's Gay Pride Parade for the first time.

Marsha P. Johnson is a legendary transgender activist. She threw the first shoe at the police at Greenwich Village's Stonewall Bar in 1969. Marsha P. Johnson was the mother of my extended gay family from 1980 until 1992 when she was found dead, floating in the Hudson River at the foot of Christopher Street--an apparent victim of a hate crime. Through Marsha (given name: "Malcolm Michaels') I met, got to know and came to love her sister, Norma, (heavy woman glimpsed during this video). With all my loved ones dead from AIDS and my biological family scattered far away, Norma (Marsha's sister) & the Michaels family became the place I would always go on Thanksgiving. They all really know how to live life to the fullest & have a good time. This year the party was more fun than ever! If you get a kick out of this, wait till you see my next installment: "SEWERAGE MAN: Your business is my business" :-) ...Less
