The first in a Series. Oil Painting and The Creative Process. Learn about starting a painting, basic color theory, and mediums.
Second in a series. Deron shows us the next steps. Complimentary colors, blending, more on color theory.
Deron goes over the finished painting and explains the final touches of his "Reality TV" painting.
In this lesson, Deron struggles some with the direction of the piece, but gives you insight into the simplicity of creative flow. Also shows more about contrast in your painting.
In the fifth lesson, Deron gives us a good luck at the process of experimenting with a painting. he adds some lines and then removes them. (Nice to see its not perfect from the start.) Plus he starts adding black as the painting becomes *almost* done.

Darin: An Oil Portrait Painting Demonstration by David R. Darrow
I did a live demo for an art group in Carlsbad, CA (near my home and studio in Oceanside, CA). This video is built around "moving snapshots" of that event. Subscribe to my free "Art In Your InBox" Newsletter and receive via e-mail a small picture of every new painting I paint, along with the story behind the painting. Go to www.DarrowArt.com/list/?p=subscribe. Your e-mail address will only be used for my mailings, and will never be sold or given away.
This is the second part of the three-part oil painting series on how a commissioned painting was produced from the initial blank canvas through to completion. Part 2 below describes how the main areas are blocked in and provides the basis for the details and highlights to be added. These will be covered in Part 3.
