Three Stooges-Brideless Groom
This was the first comedy that Laurel and Hardy starred in without producer Hal Roach, although they had previously been "guest stars" in four MGM movies. After they finished making "The Flying Deuces," they returned to Hal Roach Studios to make films. In order to make this movie, producer Boris Morros bought the rights to the 1931 French film "Les deux legionnaires," which had a similar plot. "The Flying Deuces" was Morros' first independent production and it was shot in continuity over a span of four weeks. Only one day was reportedly needed for retakes.
The stooges are troubadors for the court of King Cole. They ask King Cole if they can marry their girfriends or not, and the King agrees, but only after his daughter is married in the spring to a prince. Mergatroyd, an evil wizard, does not like the sound of this so he tells the guards to capture the princess. The Stooges decide to rescue and free her. She reveals Mergatroyd as the skunk, and the stooges have a sword fight with Mergatroyd and his men. 1954
Moe reads in the newspaper that Curly is the missing heir to his rich uncle Bob O. Link's estate. The Stooges go to the mansion, only to find out that Prof. Bob O. Link didn't die, he was murdered! And both his body and the will are missing. The boys have to spend the night in the spooky old house and solve the mystery. 1945
From 1949, the stooges are movers for an express company and on a rainy night are sent to move some junk, including a suit of armor, from a spooky old house. The armor is haunted by the ghost of Peeping Tom, who has no intention of leaving. The ghost foils the stooges attempts to take the armor, until Lady Godiva shows up and the two ride off together.
