In the rural villages around Sohag, it's all too easy for children to slip through the net of primary education. However a new type of school is being developed where teachers take a back seat and guide the students as they work together, learning subjects through a form of peer educations. The story is presented and researched by two young people from Sohag who were trained as journalists by Offshoot for the UN project on the MDGs - Sailing the Nile.
The empowerment of women is key to reducing the effects of poverty. Here in a village close to the town of Qena in upper Egypt, the community is leading the way in breaking down resistance to women's involvement in local politics and community decisions. The film is researched and presented by two young journalists trained by Offshoot to report on the MDGs for the UN's Sailing the Nile project.
In Egypt HIV/AIDS education is being taken more and more seriously. Here in the city of Beni Suef, young people are leading the way by volunteering to teach their peers the key points on the sensitive subject.This report was made by two young people from Cairo, trained as journalists by Offshoot.
