Enter the Japanese -- the best at giving you more for less -- and you will be pleasantly surprised at some of their offerings. One of which is very incomprehensible for many to understand. It’s the 2009 Nissan GT-R which is faster than a Corvette Z06, Audi R8, BMW M6, Porsche Carrera GT, Dodge Viper, Ford GT and everything else your inquisitive mind can conjure up!
To truly understand the roots of a European vehicle you must venture to its homeland to experience its birth, study its environment and speak intimately with its people. Until then you will second guess your judgment indefinitely. So welcome to Modena, Italy to experience a beautiful lady: The 2009 Maserati GranTurismo S.
A masterpiece has been created. But not by the descendents of Picasso. The 2009 Aston Martin DBS has been declassified until recently when a few top agents were dispatched to Dallas, Texas to experience the luxury sports car’s wrath.
Jay Leno hosted the auctioning of the very first retail Corvette ZR1. The powder blue ‘Vette eventually sold for 1 million at Barrett-Jackson. Arriving July ’08, the ZR1 is GM’s fastest and most powerful production vehicle with its supercharged 6.2L LS9 V-8 that produces at least 620 horsepower. Incredibly, the ‘Vette moves from 0-60 mph in less than 4 seconds and exceeds the 200 mph mark. Order now because only 2,000 will be produced annually.
Bugatti, an authentic purveyor of fast moving machines, recently introduced their Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport featuring 1001 horsepower and speeds capable of 252 mph. As well, the French roadster holds a 0 to 62 mph time of 2.5 seconds, making it the world's fastest roadster Bugatti claims.
Legends aren’t made, they’re born. So when BMW decided to play around with racing in 1986 they also found themselves playing with history. For 2008, the 4th generation M3 is offered as a coupe and a four-door sedan with the convertible to follow shortly. The four-liter naturally aspirated light-alloy powerplant outputs 414 horspower at 8300 rpm and 295 pound-feet of torque at 3900 rpm. It doesn’t redline until 8400 rpm so the high-revving engine is able to hold each gear longer for maximum acceleration. With a power to weight ratio of 8.9 lbs/hp the new V8 is stronger, yet lighter than the 3.2-liter 333 horsepower straight six it replaces from the third gen M3. Expect the coupe to move you from 0 to 60 in 4.7 seconds. Top speed is limited to 155 mph.
