'The Yellow House 02:24

In this 2007 movie, Paul Gaughin (John Lynch) and Vincent Van Gogh (John Simm) get shirty with each other over how to live and paint. Gaughin (at least in this movie) projects the well-meaning pushiness of an egotist who thinks his way is best. Van Gogh follows along with a desire for friendship that degrades into sullenness.

  • John Simm plays the part of Caligula in the film Imperium:Nerone. This is the second film clip from this movie, where the insane Caligula demands that his favorite horse be recognized as a Senator. I think this particular bit of history may be falsfax, but w/e, it's John Simm.

  • For more great documentaries visit thedocumentarycenter.blogspot.com he ruled the Roman empire fewer than four years, his life was over at the age 28, and yet the name of caligula is notorious throughout the world. His reign was a legendary frenzy of lunacy, murder and lust. While Rome cowered in terror Caligula killed for the sheer fun of it. Between executions he staged spectacular orgies, made love to his own sister, and declared himself a living god. We still shudder at the unspeakable deeds of Rome's mad emperor, but Caligula may have been driven insane by a lunatic world. Murderer, pervert, loving father, devoted son all of these were Caligula. Beyond his ghastly legend lies an anguished life that was even more bizarre.
