Brighton had a smart female friend who was also marked as the weirdo in their class. When the girl gave signal that she wanted to go to the school party with Brighton, he pretended not to understand. Fran was disagree and told him that his attitude would break the girl heart and she would be forever unconfident with man. In the taxi while Fran was busy lecturing Brighton, the taxi driver was happened to be Fran’s ex-classmate who also got ugly treatments from Fran and friends. But he was willing to forgive Fran if she accepted his proposal or got someone to produce his play.
Grandma Yetta's retirement house was being repaired. She decided to stay with Fran and did not want to bother her daughter Sylvia. The whole family was shocked when grandma Yetta brought a boyfriend to stay over. Maxwell who wanted to protect Maggie was worried that grandma Yetta would give bad examples to her especially on her age.
Fran coincidentally met an old friend of hers, Kathy who was married to a rich but far older man. Fran was not the type of woman who after money. However, everybody convinced her that it was normal. Therefore, she decided to accept her offer to get acquainted to her husband’s business partner, another rich and old man, and tried to find her happiness through material things he gave.
Fran's ex-boyfriend was dumped by his grielfriend and therefore again after Fran. Unlike the past time, he proposed to Fran who ofcourse accepted the proposal since she's been worried about her age. However, none of the children was happy with her decision to marry him.
Since the death of his wife, Maxwell consciously avoided the family from celebrating mother day. Instead, he used to take the children to a country club where the children can entertain themselves and hopefully prevented them from thinking about their mother. Coincidentally, this time there was a Mother-Daughter Beauty Pageant at the country club. Together with Fran, Gracie registered as contestants. However, one of the rivals bullied her when she found out that Fran was her nanny, and that she had no mother. Gracie ran away with tears. Maxwell somehow found out that he had made a big mistake by preventing the children from remembering their mother, that turned out to be a big problem for Gracie since she could not remember her mother’s face.
It was Fran’s first anniversary working as the nanny in the Sheffield’s. Fran was expecting something special from Maxwell for the anniversary. However for Maxwell, it was not something special to celebrate. At the same time, during the Red Robin’s assignment to Grandma Yetta’s retirement house, each child was supposed to have one specific elder people to visit and brought happiness to the lonely elders. However, it was not the case for Gracie since her elder was suddenly went out somewhere else. She was very disappointed because no elder seemed to want her.
Ms Babcock's father came to visit but it seemed that both of them didn't close to each other. Instead of taking C.C to Barbara Streisand's event, he invited Fran to go with him and also bought a very nice dress for her. Fran who was a good person by nature, tried hard to help improving father-daughter communication.
Fran takes the kids on a ride on the subway. She wants the children to experience the live of the common people. In the subway, there was a Russian woman who looks busy with her crying baby beside her several more children. Fran wants to help by offering to hold the baby for a while. When the woman and her children get off the subway, the baby is left behind. The woman reports to the police that Fran kidnaps her baby, while Fran thinks that she abandons the baby.
Fran gets the part in an avant-garde production of "Romeo and Juliet", and she sees herself as someone who has talent. All the children, including Maxwell, CC and Niles know that she has no talent as an actress. Later on, CC hears that Fran is chosen to prove that the show is a disaster and worths to close. Maxwell wants to protect Fran's feeling, however he must tell her the truth.
Maggie has been skipping her gym class for several times. Fran however found out that she was scared of her gym teacher who happened to be Fran's gym teacher at high school. The teacher was a very strict person and hated soft female students - such as Maggie and Fran.
