Nagashima Ken is a boy born with a hole in his heart, a condition called Ventricular Septal Defect. The doctors never expected him to live past a year but Ken miraculously grew to be fifteen. Since little Ken has always been fascinated by birds and dreamed to study them for the rest of his life. As a child he once observed the great mountain eagle. Since then, he journeys to the mountains year after year in hopes of meeting it again. Ken’s heart condition prevents him from regularly attending school. With the help and support of his family, his teacher, and his childhood best friends Kira and Koishi, he was able to adjust and continue school. Will Ken’s disease be cured?
