The California Environmental Protection Agency, the California Integrated Waste Management Board and the Leading U.S. Auto Manufacturer Launch New Campaign According to the American Petroleum Institute, more than 1 billion gallons of motor oil are sold each year in the U.S. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency estimates that about 185 million gallons of used motor oil are improperly disposed of each year - dumped into the ground, thrown in the trash, or poured down the drain. To help reduce environmental impact, the California Environmental Protection Agency (Cal/EPA), the California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) and General Motors are joining forces. They hope to encourage drivers to follow their vehicle manufacturer's recommendations on oil changes, which for millions of vehicles could be much longer than the decades-old standard of every 3,000 miles. LL is finally updating the Havok physics engine in Second Life. Weee! I feel like newbie again. I spent many hours tinkering with the physics when I first logged into SL almost two years ago. This new update is pretty impressive so far - still only on the beta grid tho. The speed improvements are quite noticeable, and the Sphere prim is especially intersting now that thethe .01 meter gap from the old system is gone. Spheres can actually collide and rest against other objects now. Even for a beta test the system seems pretty stable at one point I had roughly 1,500 physics enabled boxes in a huge pile. The sim sort of hiccuped for a moment, but then went about it's business like nothing was happening. :)

I was cleaning my old gaming computer the other day and I stumbled upon some old fraps output that I just couldn't delete. So before I lose those files I decided to share this stuff, which is old and pretty interesting. I had fun watching it so I was thinking you guys would like it too. I put together a video of pictures, screenshots and fraps to wrap everything up. Somewhere around next week will be the 3rd anniversary of the creation of FL (R.I.P.).
