Late 40 or early 50's Science Fiction. Look close at this movie and you might wonder if "Independence Day" made a couple of years ago might have been a updated version from this movie.
Released in 1956, the Earth is invaded by flying saucers. The aliens want us to stop sending satellites into space or something. Not a bad movie with the special effects.
When the first manned flight to Venus returns to Earth, the rocket crash-lands in the Mediterranean near a small Italian fishing village. The locals manage to save one of the astronauts Colonel Calder, the mission commander. A young boy also recovers what turns out to be a specimen of an alien creature. After they mistakenly target an innocent old man as the operative and The General cold-bloodily murders him, both Edgar and Elsa question the morality of the mission, especially when The General only finds amusement in the blunder. When they eventually discover the spy's true identity, Elsa is determined to stop her two fellow agents from fulfilling the mission.
