[Part 1] An absorbing and revealing insight into the chaotic world of the large family. This observational documentary from the Cutting Edge strand follows three extensive families - who currently have 34 children between them - to explore the emotional, religious and psychological reasons why they have a need to keep on having more.
[Part 1] At seven years old, Nick van Bloss started shaking his head, grinding his teeth and making wild whooping noises. Nick had Tourette's syndrome. No medical intervention helped him. But one activity stopped it all... The moment Nick placed his hands on the piano keys his symptoms vanished. By the age of 20, he was an award winning international pianist. He felt sure that his illness had made him the success he was. But there is a catch. The brain state necessary for his genius can also be dangerously close to mental chaos. Nick's personal journey reveals how close he came to the edge and how determined he is to triumph.
[Part 2] Living with his third wife Petrina and their nine children in a three-bedroom terraced house, Mike's home is hugely ... overcrowded and the kids often double up because there is not enough space for them each to have their own bed. With benefits of 27,000 pounds a year to live on, however, Mike appears oblivious to what other people think of his family and we follow them through the chaos and extravagance of Christmas, the prospect of Mike being jailed for drink-driving, and his boys getting in trouble with the police.
