It deeply saddens me to be writing this email. Michael Jackson was the main reason I got into DJing and remixing in the first place. Just for a chance to work with him and meet him in person. Janet Jackson said to a lot of people, Michael was an icon, but to them, he was family. I believe, that for a lot of people, Michael was family too. He wasn't just that person on the radio. He was a lot more than that. To many, many people, including myself. In 2001, I was honored to do a Michael Jackson Megamix for Hot Classics, a series of Hot Tracks Remix Service (www.hottracks.com). I had to shorten my original mix because it was too long to fit on the issue. As I sat at home, in shock, I decide to take the original extended mix, that was never released, and do the video to it. As I worked on it, I realized even more how great Michael really was. As an artist, and as a person.
