Welcome to the 2007 edition of Turkeys vs Tigers. Here at Big Cat Rescue we try to give our cats the best life possible in captivity. We have a great enrichment program, and during the holidays we try to spice it up and one of the things we do is give out turkeys to the big cats. Watch as some of our biggest residents dine on their raw turkey dinner. *Thanks to CBS Tampa's Channel 10 for coming out once again to promote this. And we are also thankful for having the greatest volunteers and supporters that any organization could ever ask for! THANKS! It took seven years for the USDA and concerned citizens to shut down the Siberian Tiger Conservation Association, which was just a fancy name for a tiger tamer wannabee camp. Now Big Cat Rescue is calling on you to help bring these cats to FL so that they can live out the rest of their lives in peace.
Meet four tigers rescued from Savage Kingdom by Big Cat Rescue.
Come with us as we update you on the big cats that appeared in three of our more popular pod casts this year. At Big Cat Rescue we pride ourselves that we are doing the best we can in this animal industry to have strong ethics. We have grown into a world-class non-breeding sanctuary and we don’t give in to the theory that babies bring in money, or that you have to rotate animals or get rid of surplus. We have no roller coasters, no petting zoos or photo booths with the cats, no taking our animals off property, and other things that other places think they need to attract money from visitors. We offer only guided tours at selected times in order to educate people on the cats situations both in captivity and in the wild. We are proud that we grow with your support year after year and we do our best to put our animals’ needs and welfare first and hope to show others that this is the way it can and should be done. Thanks for a great year! www.bigcatrescue.org
Far too many exotic cats are in private hands where they are doing nothing for the conservation of the species. These pets are often exhibited in public under the guise of education. These cats are exploited for photo ops when they are cubs and discarded to horrible unaccredited pseudo sanctuaries or roadside zoos when they are adults. The real way to save these great cats is to preserve habitat. Do not throw your money away into an exotic pet trade that does nothing for the survival of the cats. All of the footage was taken in the first couple of weeks in 2007, 60 miles or less from our own gates. Some of it was filmed at the Florida State Fair FWC exhibit where people watched the pacing animals (borrowed from a local pet owner) in their tiny exhibit cages. No one spoke to the children about real conservation, and nothing was learned. We all have grown tired of seeing animals living in these conditions. A common misconception that people seem to have is that a tiger in captivity is tame or that they are friendly. Working with Tigers is a pod cast in which we go along side with Big Cat Rescue animal caretaker Brian, as he explains a little on what itâs like to work around tigers. Like people, tigers each have their own unique personalities. In this pod cast we will learn just how extreme some can be. Tigers are a very beautiful but deadly animal that are being wiped off our planet at an alarming rate. For more information on tigers and other felines go to: www.bigcatrescue.org
Watch Big Cat Rescue save four tigers from being killed at Robert Baudy's Savage Kingdom after he was shut down by USDA for killings, maulings and escapes.
We try to make every day a holiday for our cats with our enrichment program. Watch as Shere Khan, China Doll, T.J., Bella, Bengali, Cameron, and other felines get some donated trees. Thank you very much for making this a wonderful year for all our cats! Savannah Cat Rescue- Serval/ Domestic Hybrid
Big Cat Rescue in Tampa, Fl. provides a permanent home to over 140 exotic cats. We have limited space and try to rescue what we can as well as try to get tougher legislation passed to lessen the amount of unwanted big cats. Sometimes people will get a smaller exotic feline like a serval or bobcat and hope that due to its size it will make a better “pet.” They soon learn that we speak the truth when we say exotic cats don’t make good pets. And other times people will buy from breeders a hybrid variation like a bengal cat or a savannah cat with often the same results. This video takes you along with us on a rescue of a savannah cat. We ask animal lovers to take in unwanted domestics and not to buy into this big cat crisis we have here in America. Thanks for watching, and for more info please log onto: www.bigcatrescue.org
