A friend of ours has been battling with a potentially fatal health problem. But after a courageous battle is sucessfully defeating it. We held a surprize party for her and wouldn't you know it the sanshin was introduced and we enjoyed this song.

This is my good friend Tom Pressley performing at Shima Umui while we were in Okinawa during the 4th Worldwide Uchinanchu Festival. The guy is great he plays sanshin like a pro and can sing in the Okinawan language.

In 2007 we visited the Hawaiian Plantation Villiage in Waipahu Hawaii. The village is a historical collection of stuff from the immigrant workers who came to Hawaii to work the sugar cane and pineapple plantations in the early 1900's. This video is of our guide who explained where the Okinawan people originated. Please comment if you have an opinion on what he says.
