Here's some gameplay footage (played and recorded by me) of the new Gradius game that just became available for download to Japanese Wii systems via WiiWare today. Stages 1 and 2 plus the intro sequence are shown. Overall, I'm pleased with the way the game has turned out. I do have one or two small gripes (why is there slowdown just before the first boss? Pretty inexcusable considering the hardware the game is running on. Also the Vic Viper feels way too slow, however many speed ups you usually play Gradius with, you'll need an extra one on top of this for this game to feel right), but nothing major. The game is very fun and the extreme difficulty of Gradius 3 and 4 hasn't shown up so far.
