MAKATI CITY, Philippines--Based on government-crunched statistics, a Filipino family is poor if it lives on P200 or below a day. The Peace and Equity Foundation, however, doesn't buy the figure. Using other indicators like whether homes are made of durable materials and families have access to potable tap water, the PEF came up with a map that will show the government and other institutions who want to fight poverty where the poor are. QUEZON CITY, Philippines--Former Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight champion Ricco Rodriguez of Team Shamrock defeated Kelvin Fitial of Team Gracie in the second round during "The Ring of Fire" mixed martial arts team challenge at the Araneta Coliseum. Rodriguez had been methodically kicking Fitial's leg throughout the match, as if chopping down a tree. Fitial was flown in at the last minute to replace Rodriguez's original opponent, John Marsh, after Rodriguez failed to make the weight limit and had to fight someone heavier than Marsh.
