The Story Behind "Let My Love Open The Door" or "How Do You Measure Up?" : "I get asked more questions about this video then any of the others. This was my first attempt at trying to tell a story with our rudimentary camera as well as pay homage to one of Pete Townshend's best known songs as performed by Third of Never. As I was calling out the opening titles to Brian from his Powerbook to mine (we usually try to work side by side with me directly yelling at him from a short distance) he was starting to get concerned that we still had not hit any music yet. I told him to wait and that this was going to have one of those early music video vibes to it, where the unprofessional result bolsters the music instead of slick camera work making up for crappy tunes and I think we succeeded. I would have liked to have spent more timed editing down the long shots though but he wasn't having any of it so I at least try to not work friends TOO hard! The boxes in what was my former room are no longer there and the spruced up version can be seen at the end of my outtakes video. (I feel the need to let the internet know I cleaned my room for some perverse reason.) If you look closely while I'm watching Russ Meyer ("I'm an aficionado of the breast..." ) you can see that my left hand is very red around the thumb and wrist which I try to hide. I spilled scalding hot coffee on it a few minutes before we were filming and I had the scariest burn imaginable for about three weeks afterwards. Isn't amazing how at 1.09 the Teddy Bear lands perfectly? That was not planned. The picture of Lynda Carter is on the back of a decoupage box I made during my first trip to England in 1997. I actually made it during craft time while working as nanny then had to safeguard it from getting squashed during the rest of my journey.
