INVADERS FROM MARS 1953 SCI-FI TRAILER 02:33

Theatrical trailer for the 1953 William Cameron Menzies-directed science-fiction classic, INVADERS FROM MARS. This gem of a little film from indie producer, Edward Alperson, told the story of a a young boy (Jimmy Hunt), sole witness the a UFO landing in a field near his house, who soon realizes the craft's alien inhabitants are taking over the bodies of many in his community, including his mother (Hikllary Brooke) and father (Lief Ericson). Menzies -- an Oscar winning Art Director -- managed to squeeze the nost out the the film's thrifty budget, creating a nightmarish, claustrophobic feel by shooting almost the entire film on interior sets, substituting light, shadow and color for space and realism adding to the otherworldly, dream-like qualities of the film. • Originally produced as a possible mid-season replacement on the WB network for the 2004/2005 television season, it was pulled from the schedule when producer/writer Doug Petrie (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) quite over creative differences. What is left is a great one-shot piece of television history directed with theatrical quality by Hong Kong action director, John Woo. Set in the year 2097 after Earth's first intergalactic war, the story follows Col. John Robinson and Dr, Maureen Robinson as they move their family to the farming colony of Nova. When the colony ship is attacked by aliens, the Robinson are the only family to escape the ship's destruction, but only after losing one of the family.

  • Re-release theatrical trailer for the 1941 Republic serial, THE ADVENTURES OF CAPTAIN MARVEL, starring Tom Tyler, Frank Coghlan Jr and Louise Currie. Considered by many to be the finest cliffhanger ever made, this 12 chapter serial materialized when Republic Pictures struck a deal with Fawcett Comics following the collapse of negotiations for SUPERMAN collapsed with rival comic book publisher, DC Comics. Republic treated "The World's Mightiest Mortal" with a sincerity seldom seen in earlier film adaptations of heroes from the four color comic book pages. Adding to the credibility was the scope of the serial -- which travelled from the remote "Valley of the Tombs" locale in Asia to the U.S., then back again -- a stoic, yet stalwart portrayal by Tom Tyler as Captain Marvel, William Witney and John English's capable direction. and one the serial screen's most colorful mystery villains, The Scorpion. Best of all were Howard and Theodore Lydecker's eye-defying flying sequences utilizing a wired dummy with spectacular take-offs and landings provided by stuntman supreme, David Sharpe. Nearly 70 years after its original release, THE ADVENTURES OF CAPTAIN MARVEL still continues to enthrall viewers. About the title: Republic Pictures' had the habit of chnging the titles on several of their serials when they were re-released. Thus, THE ADVENTURES OF CAPTAIN MARVEL became RETURN OF CAPTAIN MARVEL, CAPTAIN AMERICA was retitled RETURN OF CAPTAIN AMERICA, HAUNTED HARBOR became PIRATES' HARBOR and so on by merely changing the title frame.
