Talk with the animals at Big Cat Rescue through Laura Lluellyn-Lasster.
This one hour film is designed for your iPod and covers all species of wild cats and the plights they face in the wild and in captivity.
Here Comes Pharaoh Cat-A-Tail! Animal communicator Laura Lluellyn-Lassiter tells us an Easter tale featuring one of our big cat resident servals. Pharaoh is of white coloring and only two are known to have this coloring in the whole world. Pharaoh will not be used to breed, (we do not breed cats) as like the white tiger, it is not a separate species of feline. Big cats like servals do not make good pets. The current situations with cougars (mountain lions etc…) are interesting. You could be a Florida Panther, which are protected and slowly heading towards extinction (as many are hit by vehicles each year due to a huge population growth in Florida), or you could be a western puma and legally hunted in states like Oregon for a $10.00 fee. The cougars we mostly hear about are those that are people’s former pets. We get calls all the time where people went out and bought a cute fluffy cougar cub only to realize that like all animals, they grew up. Our “cubs” were sent here around 2 years ago after their mother was shot in the wilderness. A lot of you have been asking how they are doing, and this video taken at feeding time on whole prey night, will give you the chance to see that they have grown up. Thank you for watching. www.bigcatrescue.org
A flagship species is one chosen to represent an environmental cause. And often we see lions and tigers used in promotion and advertising. And these are the two species used the most to produce cubs for the industry as well, and there are ethics matters that come into play with that. There are an estimated 41 species of felines out there and by protecting enough habitat for lions and tigers we then save habitat for all the lesser known cats as well. Big Cat Rescue is committed in not only giving our residents the best life possible but we also support saving wild habitat. www.bigcatrescue.org Big Cat Rescue is a proud supporting member of the International Tiger Coalition, Snow Leopard Trust, among other feline conservation efforts. **More on flagship species: http://www.fauna-flora.org
Will the bobcat has been seen by many vets and specialists. He looks normal but does not process information, such as sight and hearing, and runs into walls. We want to release him to the wild, but have to make sure he is capable of surviving.
