We are proud to have some of the happiest cats around. And right now our sand cats are at the top of that list as they love their new sand. A BCR supporter named Lindsay chose to have her friends give money to donate to a project for us rather than spend it on gifts for her. When donating money you can earmark the donation and tell us exactly what you want that money to go to. She picked a “Casper project” (named after a cougar we all loved) and wanted sand to be put in our sand cat enclosures. We were happy to add to her donation, so we could get three huge loads of sand. Watch along as our sand cats Canyon and Genie explore and check out their homes. We truly have the best supporters in the world. Thank you. http://www.bigcatrescue.org
Reaching Out- A Special Tour for our Veterans. -Since Big Cat Rescue only offers educational guided tours at select times 6 day a week, it allows our cats a sanctuary home as well as the comfort of doing special tours at times so that the guest can have the place to themselves. Tours allow us a chance to tell the plight of these big cats in captivity and in the wild. We recently did a free tour for a group of veterans from our local V.A. hospital. Since a number of our own members are former military it is always a meaningful experience. This video allows you to come along on that tour. We ask that no matter what your political views are, to please support your local veterans associations. http://www.va.gov/ *We want to thank Smokey Bones Restaurant of Citrus Park for providing them with a free lunch. Thank you, http://www.bigcatrescue.org
A flagship species is one chosen to represent an environmental cause. And often we see lions and tigers used in promotion and advertising. And these are the two species used the most to produce cubs for the industry as well, and there are ethics matters that come into play with that. There are an estimated 41 species of felines out there and by protecting enough habitat for lions and tigers we then save habitat for all the lesser known cats as well. Big Cat Rescue is committed in not only giving our residents the best life possible but we also support saving wild habitat. www.bigcatrescue.org Big Cat Rescue is a proud supporting member of the International Tiger Coalition, Snow Leopard Trust, among other feline conservation efforts. **More on flagship species: http://www.fauna-flora.org
Feeding time has to be the cats favorite time of day. We do our best to make sure their diets are not only healthy but also interesting for them. Listen in as Scott takes you through our food prep for the big cats like the tigers, and watch along as you get right down next to the big cats as they eat their raw meat. This is an old clip and some of the things shown in the clip are no longer offereed. We still have the Big Cat Expedition, where you spend the day with a keeper, but you are never unsupervised, there is no overnight stay and you can no longer feed the cats, but you can watch them being fed. Big Cat Rescue is a non profit, permanent retirement home to more than 100 tigers, lions, leopards, bobcats and more species of exotic cat. We rely entirely on donations to provide them with the lives you see in these videos. Please help support the big cats at: http://www.bigcatrescue.org/donate.htm or by mailing a check to Big Cat Rescue 12802 Easy Street, Tampa, FL 33625 813.920.4130 Info@BigCatRescue.org Thank you!
Welcome to the 2007 edition of Turkeys vs Tigers. Here at Big Cat Rescue we try to give our cats the best life possible in captivity. We have a great enrichment program, and during the holidays we try to spice it up and one of the things we do is give out turkeys to the big cats. Watch as some of our biggest residents dine on their raw turkey dinner. *Thanks to CBS Tampa's Channel 10 for coming out once again to promote this. And we are also thankful for having the greatest volunteers and supporters that any organization could ever ask for! THANKS!
