The Isley Brothers
Stax, with artists such as Booker T & The MGs, The Memphis Horns, Otis Redding, Sam & Dave and Rufus & Carla Thomas, was based in Memphis, Tennessee, and was instrumental in the creation of the Southern soul and Memphis soul music styles. It was involved almost exclusively in the production of African-American music, and is noted for having some of the first popular ethnically-integrated bands.
