On the fourth stop of our gallery tour in Madrid we visited Distrito Cu4tro Gallery. The gallery presented works by Rui Toscano, a young artist who lives and works in Lisbon / Portugal. Toscano started his career with painting but then switched to sculpture. His work is influenced by everyday film, rock music, and sound. Galeria Distrito Cu4tro presented four works: Cluster (acrylic on paper, 2008), 100 Rádios Mortas (sculpture, 2007), Wave Field (sculpture, 2007), and T for Tornado (video, 2007).   • The artists Gert and Uwe Tobias (German, born Romania, 1973) are twin brothers. Their collaborative work centers on large-scale woodcuts, but also includes typewriter drawings and watercolors, handmade ceramic sculptures, and wooden constructions. They became internationally known with their exhibition at the Museum of Moderna Art MoMA in New York in 2007/2008.

  • At ARCO 2008 in Madrid, [DAM] Gallery Berlin presented the digital art installation "TI" by C.E.B. Reas as part of ARCO’s "Expanded Box" section. "TI" has been in included in group shows at Pratt Manhattan Gallery in New York and at the Block Museum of Art, Northwestern University in Chicago. C.E.B. Reas lives and works in Los Angeles. Reas is associate professor and chair of the department of Design | Media Arts at the University of California, Los Angeles. He focuses on defining processes and translating them into images. With Ben Fry, Reas initiated Processing.org in 2001. Processing is an open source programming language and environment for creating images, animation, and interaction.
