Another drug education propaganda film from the 60’s. This time the focus is on barbiturates. This 1969 film is about a dumb guy who also narrates this short film. One night whilst partying with his friends, he decides to try some "Barbs". After popping them like tic-tacs all night, he comes down pretty hard. Stagerring home like a drunken sailor on payday. he walks right into a wall and takes a nasty header. This is one night he'll never forget. hey, it's sounds like fun! Remember kids, don't take too many "dolls" unless you want to crash and burn. One of the more light hearted shorts you'll find on the subject. Another case of overindulgence.
LSD: Case Study (1969) is another one of your anti-drug films that they showed middle school kids. This time it's about the evils of acid (a.k.a. LSD). A pretty young white girl is hanging with her new friends from high school. They drop several doses of acid and party all night long. The girl decides to get something to eat. When she receives her hot dog she's beginning to have a bad trip. She imagines that her hot dog is a little jewel troll. The hot dog also talks to her pleading with the girl not to eat her.
Amphetamines: Case Study (1969) is another anti-drug short film about amphetamines that's about some young guy who becomes strung out on diet pills. He picked up a bottle of amphetamines to try and lose weight. Pretty soon he was abusing the pills and popping them like candy. Whilst under the influence of "amps", he thought he could do a lot of things like fix radios and other appliances. He was taking stuff apart even though he knew nothing about repairing radios. We he comes down, he realizes that he broke all of his things. -- Please Leave Comments --
LSD: Insight or Insanity (1967) was a short film that condemned the use of LSD and "acid". What's makes this short different than the others was the vocal narration from has been actor Sal Mineo. After appearing in some high prolific productions, Mr. Mineo has all but disappeared from the spotlight. But he not only provides a narration for this film, but he gives the viewers an added bonus. He performs the vocals of the song that plays during the end credits. What's even funnier is the fact that he comes off sounding like a curmudgeon. Talking down to the people in the movie and the youth in general. I would be bitter too if I went from REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE to narrating an anti-drug short. Sal would have one last shot in the big leagues when he played in ESCAPE FROM PLANET OF THE APES.
"Safety Belt for Susie," a 1962 classic teaching in no uncertain terms the high cost of driving kids around without seatbelt by using a doll for effect.
With such a provocative title, this 1959 film illustrates some of the perceived problems a supervisor might face working with women, but ultimately demonstrates where the real problem lies. The irritated supervisor in this film shows up again in The Grapevine.
Sonny Bono appears onscreen to tell kids that marijuana is a "bummer" that turns you into a "weedhead" and will make you "trip out" (the fact that, based upon his performance, Sonny appears to have ingested unknown substances before the cameras started rolling tends to limit the film's crediblity somewhat). The film is actually a lot of fun! You will be disturbed, yet hysterical all the way through.
This 1965 film teaches the individual how to take care of his medical and health needs in time of disaster when medical assistance might not be readily available. Presents instructions on radioactive fallout and shelter. Discusses the effects of radiation on people and emphasizes protective procedures against radiation.
