スピード社製水着問題 「山本化学工業」が開発した新素材の水着で驚きの好タイム 日本の競泳オリンピック代表が契約する国内3社に、水着の改善を要望した期限が30日に迫る中、注目の新素材がテストで驚きのタイムをたたき出した。 東京・北区の国立スポーツ科学センターでは現在、北京オリンピック競泳代表選手の強化合宿が行われている。 開幕まで71日に迫った北京オリンピックに向け、強化合宿に臨んでいる北島康介選手(25)ら、競泳の日本代表選手たち。 世界記録を連発しているスピード社製の水着を日本代表の選手が契約上使えない問題で、日本水泳連盟は、契約する「ミズノ」・「アシックス」・「デサント」の3社に、30日までに水着の改善案を提出するように通達した。 選手たちがスピード社製の水着に興味を示す中、ウエットスーツの素材メーカー・山本化学工業が、「スピード社製の水着よりも水への抵抗が少ない」と主張する新素材を開発した。その新素材をミズノ・アシックス・デサントに提供することを決めていた。 そして29日、大阪府内のプールで、新素材を使って海外メーカーが作った水着でテストが行われた。50メートルを4本泳いだタイムを合計する方法で測定。最初に通常の水着で計り、次に新素材の水着で泳ぎ、タイムを計測した。 通常の水着を着た記録が2分29秒0、山本化学工業の水着を着た記録が2分23秒4と、5.6秒も早い記録が出ている。山本化学工業の山本富造社長は「スピード社のものと比べてもらえば、確実にわれわれの方が早いですから。できるだけとにかく多く面積を使ってほしいというのが、一番のお願いですね」と話した。 果たして3社は、この日本で生まれた新素材を使った新たな水着を開発しているのか。水着の改善案提出のタイムリミットは30日となっている。 (フジテレビ 05/29 18:38)
