  • The big news in Australian politics right now is supposedly nude photos of a fringe nutbag politician taken back in the 70s. I realised as I wrote the heading for this that it might attract some real freaks looking for nude photos of those blonde kids from that band. Icky. Although they are all adults now. Still icky. • So far, they've had to make a lot of snow to cover the slopes... But that didn't stop skiiers and snowboarders from flocking to Huff Hills. Here's opening day at the local ski resort... Right now they're 25 percent open... with a 12-16 inch base of snow. Over one-hundred hours of snow making has gone on already...and they've used a couple million gallons of water to do it. Until mother nature drops some white stuff... the snowmaking crew will stay busy so you can ski and ride the slopes. Mountains Operations Manager, Andy Beck says they are very happy with today's turnout. (Andy Beck/Mountains Operations Manager) "Opening day went off without a hitch. Its been awesome and people are having fun and its just been a great opening day for us, very smooth." You can check which lifts are open, or what the snow is like... by calling their snow-line... or visiting the huff hills website. [www.clipsyndicate.com | KXMB CBS Bismarck North D]

  • For a growing number of Americans, a trip to the pharmacy can begin a deadly battle with prescription drug addiction. While nearly 14,000 people die every year from prescription drug overdoses, reporter Kate Schell brings us one family's personal story of loss and a father's battle to prevent others from experiencing the same devastation. He had his entire life ahead of him. At just 24, Justin Pearson was planning his wedding and his future. But an ATV accident changed all of that. Justin was severly injured, rupturing his spleen and fracturing his shoulder. The only thing to ease his pain-Vicodin, prescribed by his doctors. (Dan Pearson/Justin's Father) "He became addicted to it. And then herniated a couple of disks. He was given more vicdoin. Ended up doctors cut him off, several years ago, like they should and Justin went on a spam website and found the ability to obtain drugs over the internet." It began with an email advertising the drug. With just a few clicksJustin was able to bypass physcians and begin reciving Vicodin againthis time without a prescription or even a doctors visit. It was the convenience of the internet that helped fuel his addiction. (Dan Pearson/Justin's Father) "Justin used 17 different internet sites. The ultimate result he was able to pick his dosage, pick his quantities, sometime obtaining 120 at a time and at his worse he used over 80 vicodin in one day." "We became very acutely aware of the internet problem. We intercepted drugs, we did all sorts of things, I'd find the hiding place and then Id throw them away, get rid of them whatever, but ultimately the website operators won." Justin died on Christmas day back in 2006from an unintentional presciption drug overdose. His father, Dan still has many unanswered questions, three years after his passing. (Dan Pearson/Justin's Father) "Could we have done more, should we have done different things? Those will be unanswered questions forever." But despite dwelling on what could have been done, they focused on what should be done. They lob
