IRON MOUNTAIN TRAIL 1953 REX ALLEN TRAILER
Theatrical trailer for the 1953 Rex Allen western, IRON MOUNTAIN TRAIL. Television had such a devastating impact on exhbitors and producers of such Saturday matinee staples as B-westerns and serials, that both genres would see their last releases by 1955. Singing cowboy Rex Allen started later than either Gene Autry or Roy Rogers, but developed a substantial following thanks, in large part, to "The Arizona Cowboy's" magnificent voice and the quality of his 16 Republic films. THE ALAMO 1960 JOHN WAYNE TRAILER
Re-release theatrical trailer for John Wayne's magnum opus, THE ALAMO. Despite being nominated for seven Academy Awards including Best Picture (it won for Best Sound) and being one of the top ten grossing films of 1960, the film's 12 million dollar budget forced Wayne to assume huge personal debt in order to finish the film after its distributor, United Artists, refused to pay for cost overruns during production. It wasn't until THE ALAMO was sold to television in 1971 that Wayne's personal debts were paid off.
