CHUMP AT OXFORD 1940 LAUREL AND HARDY TRAILER
Theatrical trailer for the 1940 Laurel and Hardy Laugh classic, A CHUMP AT OXORD. After over a decade with producer Hal Roach, Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy would make only additional feature film, SAPS AT SEA (1940) before leaving the studio for films at 20th Century-Fox and M-G-M. None of the ensuing films equalled the quality of their shorts or features with Roach. INVADERS FROM MARS 1953 SCI-FI TRAILER
Theatrical trailer for the 1953 William Cameron Menzies-directed science-fiction classic, INVADERS FROM MARS. This gem of a little film from indie producer, Edward Alperson, told the story of a a young boy (Jimmy Hunt), sole witness the a UFO landing in a field near his house, who soon realizes the craft's alien inhabitants are taking over the bodies of many in his community, including his mother (Hikllary Brooke) and father (Lief Ericson). Menzies -- an Oscar winning Art Director -- managed to squeeze the nost out the the film's thrifty budget, creating a nightmarish, claustrophobic feel by shooting almost the entire film on interior sets, substituting light, shadow and color for space and realism adding to the otherworldly, dream-like qualities of the film. BEHIND THE MASK 1946 THE SHADOW TRAILER
Theatrical trailer for, BEHIND THE MASK, the second of three films in Monogram's abbreviated series based on the popular "Shadow" radio program. Though the thrift-conscious films did have atmospheric moments and a capable lead in Kane Richmond, the series, as a whole, failed to retain the radio's series mysterious, noirish feel, emphasizing the comedic elements and adding moments of same that were out of place in a thriller. Tales from The Other Side Episode 3 featuring The Brain Machine hosted by Dr. Mark Cutimup. This has got to be the WEIRDEST movie we've shown so far on TfTOS (as well as our previous show Pastor Z's Very Low Budget Horror Cam). It's also probably the most fun we've had hosting a bad B-Movie. Here's the movie in a nutshell: a secret government plan for TOTAL SURVEILLANCE of the US population using a machine that can read minds and convert the thoughts into audio visual images (i.e. "movies") a doctor with a beehive hairdo straight out of the B-52s and James Best --- better known as Roscoooooooooooooooooe P. Coltrane from Dukes of Hazzard. This is wayyyyy too much fun fit into a one-hour time slot! Enjoy!
