Despite the brevity of the report the newscaster manages to be an apologist calling the death "strange" and "almost unheard of" despite the fact that there have been several deaths as a direct result from infant circumcision in Canada in recent years. Following the death newspapers reported that the parents, if given the chance with another child, would circumcise again.

David Reimer 1965-2004 (birth name Bruce) was born an identical twin in Winnipeg, Manitoba. At 6 months of age both boys were mistakenly diagnosed with phimosis, a natural condition of the infant penis. The so-called doctor Jean-Marie Huot botched the first circumcision completely destroying Bruce's penis. Twin Brian's circumcision was canceled; he made a full recovery from his "condition" of phimosis, without further treatment. As a teenager David learned from his father what had happened. He then went to visit Jean-Marie Huot, armed with a gun. Here David describes that incident, and his mother Janet talks about the pain and suffering of her child and his attempts to end his own life. David died in 2004.
