One of the best ways to cope with and manage diabetes is to be well educated about it. Trinity Health in Minot is pushing that concept with a new Diabetes Education Center in the Town and Country Shopping Center. Now being used for records storage, this area near White Drug, will be transformed into a center for Diabetes education and prevention. Deanna Westman, a Registered Nurse with Trinity, says with the growing number of cases of diabetes in our area there's tremendous need for a center like this. Deanna Westman, Trinity Health R.N. CDE) "Around 27 million Americans have diabetes and a fraction of them, millions don't even know that. It is a disease that comes on very subtly, very quietly and so in our office alone we can tell you we average five newly diagnosed a week that we deal with on top of the patients who've had diabetes for years that we've helped educate as far as the long term complications so there's a huge need in this region. The news Diabetes Education Center is expected to be up and running in early 2010. [www.clipsyndicate.com | KXMC CBS Bismarck North ]
