  • The Minot High boys hockey team will be at home again tomorrow night as they host Century in west region play. The Patriots are just a point back of 1st place Williston while the Magicians are 4 points out of first. The Magicians are coming off of Tuesday's 3-2 win over Bottineau on Tuesday and can stay in the race for the west region title with a win. Chad Burckhard, MHS boys hockey coach:Century's another team that brings a real dynamic first line and we're gonna have to find a way to match their speed and if we can do that I like our chances of having some success. You know scoring's still been a problem for us this year and we're doing some things to work on that and we're seeing improvement in that area so tomorrow night against a team like Century we're gonna have to put some goals on the board to beat them so we're really gonna concentrate on that. Rand Hammer, senior:Century's supposed to be a good team but lately we've been able to put the puck in the net a little bit better so I think we'll be able to pull it off. Game time tomorrow night is at 7:30 at the All Seasons Arena. [www.clipsyndicate.com | KXMC CBS Bismarck North ]

  • You go through enough winters in North Dakota and you would think you'd get use to the cold... This morning temperatures were near twenty below zero that's without the windchill... And as Donnell Preskey reports we all deal with the cold differently... You can live in North Dakota all your life... but this number feels cold... even to the hardiest of residents... "It's like pain... You don't want to be out too long cuz you're going to freeze." "It's too cold, too cold to work outside that's for sure." "As you get older it gets a little tougher to deal with." While others say the dangerous temps aren't soo bad... "I can take the cold, I've been here all my life." "This is North Dakota, we're used to it. We don't mind it." "The sun is out, the snow is beautiful, we were born and raised here so it doesn't scare me at all." A big bowl of knoephla soup can take the edge off... On a day like today Krolls will go through 80 1/2 gallon buckets of this popular comfort food... Clarence Glatt / Krolls mgr "It gives you a good down home feeling, it fills you up, it's satisfying and it's just perfect on a cold winter night." Another quick fix for the shivers... coffee... as temperatures drop... sales go up... "Wakes you up, gets you going and makes you forget that winter is really here." And with an expected HIGH of ten below school playgrounds are empty it's too cold for kids to be out at recess... And you probably won't see kids or adults here either... a game of hockey will have to wait for the warm up... Believe it or not... Coffee shop employees say customers still order iced coffees on a day like today... [www.clipsyndicate.com | KXMB CBS Bismarck North D]
