"according to reports when the officers arrived mr. baca was there providing aid type of aid i'm not to sure... " witnesses -- who know lemos -- paint another picture... they say they never saw lemos punch baca -- and tell us after the shooting -- baca started cussing and yelling at the victim's wife and the couple's 2 young children who were in the back seat of the lemos's car... they also say baca didn't start minute thumbnail 06:01 pm trying to give lemos c-p-r until after he saw police. rescue dog that worked the streets of iraq-- minute thumbnail 05:13 pm and even helped find people at the pentagon after 9- 11 -- is now battling cancer. joe bartels sat down with the dog's owner in roswell today. he's live to tell us about the challenge they're now facing. joe? sage the border collie has answered the call of duty countless times-- serving our country in some its darkest hours. sage is now battling cancer and her owner says she needs help saving sage's life. you couldn't tell by looking at her-- but 10-year-old sage has done some incredible things. "she was always from the beginning, so willing to do anything. her job was to be a disaster dog." after 9-11, sage helped rescuers pull bodies from underneath the rubble at the pentagon. for her service, sage is able to participate in health screening each year as part of a 9-11 k-9 study. this year-- doctors found something. "the radiologist found a tumor down deep between her lungs and that's how we found out. i guess you minute thumbnail 05:14 pm could say, 9-11 saved her life." diane whetsel and her dog have been on countless missions-- even helping to find missing soldier in iraq. "she would come in after foot patrol and everyone would be tired, but this little dog could bring a smile to any soldiers face, and with a frisbee, you had a friend." now, whetsel doesn't know how she is going to pay for sage's surgery. her job is in jeopardy because of the possible closing of the roswell correctional facility. she is asking for help to save her friend and american hero. A North Dakota man is one of the 31 wounded in yesterday's attack at Fort Hood, Texas. Sgt. Patrick Blue the Third of Belcourt, part of the 101st Airborne's Second Brigade was shot by the man who killed 13 people when he opened fire at the military's largest base. Blue's father lives in Belcourt and talked with us by phone this afternoon. He says his son is doing well and was released from the hospital in Texas today. Sgt. Blue's father says his son is going through post-combat psychiatric care and saw the shooter, a military psychiatrist, often. (Patrick Blue II / Father of Shooting Victim) "We talked for a little bit, we talked about the shooter. He's a psychiatrist there who works with the guys when they come back from Iraq. He's seen the guy every day, he never thought something like that would happen. Sgt.
