it's being called a horrible crime against a defenseless puppy. an albuquerque man is facing felony charges -- after officials say he chopped off the dog's ears off with a pair of scissors during thanksgiving dinner. misa maruyama went to the home where it happened ... and spoke with a woman who calls herself the suspect's girlfriend. she joins us with more. misa? joe -- police say the man who did it is rosalio lopez. we spoke with his girlfriend. she didn't want to appear on camera -- but did say the puppy belonged to her nephew. we have a warning for you -- some of the images you're about to see are disturbing. this four-month- old chocolate pit bull is missing its ears -- after police say this man cut them off with a pair of scissors minute thumbnail 10:04 pm this week. rosalio lopez was arraigned today after police say he admitted to the crime. we went to the home where officers say it happened -- and spoke with a woman who lives there. she calls herself lopez's live-in girlfriend. she says someone called albuquerque animal welfare -- as they were having thanksgiving dinner. "we were inside we didn't know what was happening and the cops got here. they got a complaint that the dog's ears got clipped." she says it was her nephew's dog. when police arrived -- lopez told them he held down the puppy and cutting off its ears with a pair of scissors police found the puppy's ears and a bloody scissors in a trash bin in the backyard and the dog tied up in the front yard -- dripping with blood from its wounds. they say it was animal cruelty. what do you think? yeah i think it was. lopez's girlfirend says she's horrified -- and still doesn't know why he did it. i really don't know the story -- i just know he cut off the dogs ears. rosalio lopez is minute thumbnail 10:05 pm being held on five thousand dollarba r extreme animal cruelty -- a felony. he also faces possession of drug charges. as for the puppy -- the owner turned it over to albuquerque animal welfare. officials say they think it'll be o-k. joe, back to you [
