Santa's sleigh may not leave the garage until December 24th, but today in Minot, Old Saint Nick was showing off a slightly different mode of transportation. The "Santa Rides a Harley" event is an annual fundraiser sponsored by the Harley Owners Group of Minot. Children and parents have the opportunity to have their photo taken with Santa and his motorcycle. Kids also visited several booths provided by the Minot Police and Fire Departments. Each year, a different local charity is chosen as the recipient of the event's proceeds, and this year, that recipient is the Domestic Violence Crisis Center. Organizer, Luanne Duchsherer believes the fundraiser is a good time for everyone- even those too big for Santa's lap. (Luanne Duchsherer, Organizer) "You know, it's a lot of fun, and it's just as much for for the adults as it is for the kids, just to see the smiles on their faces and know that they're having a good time and knowing that we're raising money for the charities here in Minot. We have a lot of big kids that come and have their picture taken with Santa too, not just the little kids, so it's kind of a fun event for everybody." A group of new billboards across the state are turning a lot of heads, at least for drivers who aren't looking down at their cell phones. It says, in true texting form, "Don't drive and text". Newman Signs put up the billboard because that is a policy for their company... and workers say it's a good public service message, as well as good advertisement. We asked high school juniors and seniors their opinions on whether people should text and drive.
