  • Quite a sight in North Bismarck tonight....Again this happened right in town... A male mountain lion was spotted right around 7:00 this evening, by Marvin Beck while he was out with his two kids Maari and Meric ...They were up North right behind the old Home Depot in a grassy area... They called the game and fish department. (Marvin Beck/Spotted the Mountain Lion) When game and fish arrived they shined a light and also spotted the cat... Bismarck Police were called to the scene... And it was an officer that shot the mountain lion...twice with a shotgun as he approached this rocky area. Again a mountain lion was shot tonight around 8:00 this evening, in bismarck's city limits.... An officer says he's responded to these kinds of calls before but has never actually seen a cat. " " Marvin Beck is with the North Dakota National Guard he's says when they saw the cat instict kicked in...he knew the cat had to go being it was in the city limits... The mountain lion will be taked to the Game and Fish Department where it will be analized... [www.clipsyndicate.com | KXMB CBS Bismarck North D]

  • sam costales says he broke the blue wall of silence. and it caused him three years of anguish. i worked the streets for 22 and a half years. you see it all the time, but at the management level you don't. that's why they keep saying there's no blue wall of silence. but if you work the street, you know there is. take a look at costales in 2006 -- when he testified against three deputies who arrested former race car driver al unser senior for refusing to leave an area near a swat situation. since then -- he says retaliation from fellow officers has created emotional turmoil for his family -- and a dramatic physical change in him. i was sick in the morning before i went to work. vomiting and things like that, and i lost 80 pounds. my wife has done the same. we haven't been dieting. we just don't eat that much. it's just been hard to get through this. he says officers retaliated in many ways: --chastising me, saying what a rat ias, saying i can't be trusted. things that were really hurtful. he says he tried to get his old job back in communications -- but the job was mysteriously eliminated. he also says he was forced to work with one of his vocal critics -- just to make his life miserable. and his fellow officers would shun him in the field -- sometimes refusing to shake his hand. it's pretty lonely out there. so i just stuck to myself. this week a federal jury awarded him 662 thousand dollars ... decidingalbuquer que's police chief violated his first amendment rights by not intervening. he also says he got 200 grand for attorney fees --and with okther fees---the city will pay out nearly a million dollars. i'm hoping this jury verdict will send a message to other officers that they do have a venue to come forward and tell the truth. misa maruyama, eye witness news four. we were unable to get a hold of anyone from the city... however, we did speak with sheriff darren white---who's about to become the city's chief public safety director. he says deputies file complaints against other deputies frequently, and doesn't
