Putting education first could cost Toledo taxpayers hundreds of dollars extra per year. Toledo Public Schools Board of Education voted Tuesday to put a thee-quarter-percent income tax on the May 4 primary ballot. The school district's goal is to slice into a $30 million budget deficit. If the measure passes, the extra money would bring in about $18 million, but TPS would still have to make plenty of cuts. If voters say no, the district will be in even worse financial shape.
