Awaiting the fans is another street circuit, just as spectacular as Monaco, though admittedly without the glamour. At 185 metres, the start-finish straight is shorter than at any other Formula 1 circuit in use this year. The average speed here is over 200 kilometres per hour.And the 5.4 kilometres are pretty demanding on the drivers. They have to turn the steering wheel 25 times, overtaking manoeuvres not included, although here theyâre somewhat rare!
On August 13, 2009, Volvo Cars will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the standard-fit three point safety belts, which appeared for the first time on a Volvo PV544 delivered Thursday August 13, 1959 to a Volvo dealer in the Swedish town of Kristianstad. Over the next 50 years, the V-shaped three-point safety belt saved well over one million lives. The modern safety belt is the cornerstone of the car's interior safety system, working alongside additional features such as airbags, belt pre-tensioners and force limiters.

The Bentley Continental Supersports, the fastest and most powerful car in the companys 90-year history, received the ultimate examination of its supercar handling and performance credentials when Le Mans racing legend and honorary Bentley Boy Derek Bell spent the weekend driving the 621bhp Bentley at pace during the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Formula 1 is on its way to the Hungaroring for the 24th time and thousands of fans are again eagerly awaiting the race.A good grid position is decisive at the start here, as the circuit offers few opportunities to overtake.The drivers at the front of the grid are best set for victory - and for the first corner. What does Mark Webber do on his weekend off? Go racing. But it was two wheels rather than four, and he was very much spectator and fan rather than competitor when he visited the British World Superbike round on Sunday, 28 June. At Donington which may or may not be an F1 circuit in 2010 Mark met up with Jonathan Rea of Hanspree Honda and Tom Sykes of Yamaha who were competing in the World Superbike series, as well as Hondas Supersport sensation from Turkey Kenan Sofuoglu.
Since 75 years, the terms Mercedes-Benz and âSilver Arrow are inseparably connected to each other. The era of the Silver Arrow started 1934 with the Formula Racing car W25. The models W125, W154 and W196 followed. For the anniversary for 75 years Silver Arrow, an imposing parade with these historical vehicles took place. On the test racing track in Stuttgart, Untertuerkheim, Lewis Hamilton, Ralf Schumacher and Hans Herrmann reviewed history again with the original racing cars. Lewis Hamilton drove the freshly restored W25, which hadnt been in use since 30 years. Before the driving demonstration, Lewis Hamilton was present for the insertion of his Vodafone McLaren Mercedes MP4-23 into the Mercedes-Benz Museum the vehicle with which he von the champion title in 2008. This car is now part of the worlds biggest Silver arrow collection.
The Le Mans début of the technically innovative Audi R15 TDI demonstrated that it has become even harder to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans with an entirely new Sports Prototype at the first attempt. After the traditional test day was canceled there was no longer any opportunity to test and set-up a new car for the 13.629-kilometer long track at Le Mans this had to be done exclusively during the race week. Audi Sport Team Joest nevertheless claimed a podium position at the first attempt with the R15 TDI on June 13/14, 2009 and, in doing so, learned a great deal for next year, when Audi aims to reclaim the Le Mans winners trophy.

The first customer of the Volvo FH16 700 truck, Tore Aase from Norway, has taken delivery of the first world's most powerful truck in Tuve, outside Göteborg in Sweden, where the truck is built. The truck will be used in long-haul operations in the west of Norway, hauling equipment for the oil industry. The world's most powerful truck, with 700 horsepower and a massive 3150 Nm of torque, is built for the most demanding haulage assignments, without increasing either its emissions or fuel consumption.

Swedish energy company Vattenfall and the Volvo Car Corporation are launching an industrial joint venture partnership to introduce Plug-in hybrids on the market in 2012. The ground-breaking technology will considerably lower the environmental impact from traffic. In addition, owning a Plug-in hybrid vehicle will be convenient since the car can be charged from a regular household wall socket at home (costing only 3 Euro per 100km) and fuel costs are significantly lower, using only 2 litres per 100 km. The battery takes about five hours to charge from a standard wall socket, and the battery is also charged every time the car's brakes are applied. Volvo Cars will manufacture the cars and Vattenfall will develop charging systems and supply the cars with electricity.
Swedish gardening and outdoor equipment producer Husqvarna launched the Husqvarna Panthera Leo concept, a high power, ride-on mower produced from recyclable materials, which performs with low emissions and minimal noise pollution. Mercedes-Benz Motorsport has applied the Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) at every Formula 1 race of this season 2009 without any problems. The application of this technique in a Formula 1 vehicle can add a time advantage up to half a second per lap.
