A series to reflect the many-splendored different realities of one's actual interests, with no one particular theme - the word grokked is taken from Robert Heinlein's science-fiction novel "Stranger in a Strange Land" and is a made-up word which suggests a 'full' understanding of something. The various dignitaries speak about this, the 25th Anniversary year, and this year's celebration of the Cypriot Wine Festival which is now held annually at Alexandra Palace in London. Almost all the speeches are in Greek, but the guests are greeted in English by Peter Droussiotis, Chairman of the National Federation of Cypriot Organisations. The Traditional Cultural Ensemble, Vasilikia, was originally created in Famagusta, but its members were scattered all over the island after the coup and invasion in 1974.
London-born Sarbel provided the highlight of the entertainment during the 2008 Wine Festival, to great popular acclaim. Sarbel represented Greece for Eurovision 2007, but had never previously performed for his 'home crowd' in north London where this annual Cyprus Wine Festival takes place. See more details about Sarbel (or by doing a google-search) at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarbel or at his own myspace profile at: http://www.myspace.com/sarbelsmyspace (Additional video coverage of the Cyprus Wine Festival 2008 is currently being prepared for upload to this channel)

UN Security Council - Serbia requests annullment of Kosovo Independence Declaration
UN Security Council in full session on February 18th 2008, to hear Serbia's call for the Independence Declaration on the previous day by Kosovo to be annulled.
Euro News carried the following item live on 18th February, the Press Conference following a meeting of EU Foreign Ministers who spent a day discussing how the EU should deal with Kosovo's Independence announcement the previous day. This item deserved being immortalised on VEOH for the pleasure of seeing Dimitrij Rupel (Slovenian Foreign Minister, on behalf of the rotating presidency) Javier Solana (EU High Representative on Foreign Affairs), and Olli Rehn (EU Enlargement Commissioner) being made to feel distinctly uncomfortable at the questions they were being asked by a rather hostile press corps. St. John Chrysostom's contribution to Orthodox Worship
Part of the January 2008 events announced by Archbishop Gregorios of Thyateira while attending an evening to celebrate the life of Dr. Stavros Panteli. This event was introduced by The Right Reverend Athanasios Bishop of Tropaeou and consisted of a talk by The Very Revd. Archimandrite, Father Ephrem Lash who presently serves at the Church of SS Anthony the Great & John the Baptist, at Holloway in London. The talk was about "St. John Chrysostom's contribution to Orthodox Worship". This was followed by a performance by some of the members of the London Greek Orthodox Byzantine Choir. The event was held at London's Hellenic Centre on 15th January 2007. www.thyateira.org.uk www.anastasis.org.uk
Having just seen the Riz Khan item which he pre-publicised with his 1 minute slot on their YouTube profile -- in an item asking whether, given all the other problems afflicting the world, the world media has "forgotten about the division of Cyprus" -- the program which Riz actually produced for 13th Nov 2007 was so one-sided it was beneath contempt. I totally lost my previous high respect for Riz Khan. Rather than treating the division of Cyprus with even a modicum of fairness he offered his media slot for blatant Turkish propaganda. Didn't know Al Jazeera does "pay per slot propaganda" items for selected causes. D I S G U S T I N G !

Yesterdays crime bumps into today's Expediency - US's Armenian Genocide Debate
'Allies at Odds' is how the BBC World News America reported the story of the vote by the American House of Representatives Foreign Relations Committee to designate the mass killings of Armenians in the closing days of the Ottoman Empire as - Genocide. The US President, his Secretary of State and the Secretary of Defence all abhor the historical killing of 1.5 million Armenians by the Turks, and even though Presidential candidate Bush prior to his election had called it Genocide, his government pleads with Congress not to call it Genocide. Nicholas Burns of the State Department is rushed into TV News studios to be interviewed by the media with a conciliatory statement at the first opportunity after the vote. Part of a cross section study of how various different media interests reported the vote by the American House of Representatives Foreign Relations Committee to designate the mass killings of Armenians in the closing days of the Ottoman Empire as - Genocide. ABC news allocated a whole of 30 seconds to the story, mostly to highlight how 'Executive Authority' in the US is resolutely opposed to the Killing of 1.5 million Armenians in the closing days of the Ottoman Empire being called the first Genocide of the 20th Century.
