  • Pet Orphans of Southern California is one of the oldest active HUMANE ORGANIZATIONS in the Greater Los Angeles area with a private shelter. At our shelter facility located in Van Nuys, California, an average of 60 dogs and 30 cats are housed until they can be placed with new guardians. Pet Orphans has facilitated adoptions for thousands of cats and dogs since our inception in 1973. The majority of the dogs and cats at Pet Orphans have been transferred from local city and county shelters and are anxiously awaiting a new home. Please help all of our dog and cat pet orphans by volunteering at or donating to our rescue shelter and rescue causes. • Dog available for adoption at Pet Orphans of Southern California. Kingston: A super active and affectionate canine, I'm barely an adult and I want to discover what it feels like to belong with experienced dog people who truly care about me. Going on long walks is one of my favorite things to do (besides getting lots of love from humans). I'm really not thrilled to be living in a shelter environment when I could be in my very own home space, knowing how wonderful it feels to be a beloved family member. I notice some of the other residents here, leaving with people who have chosen them to be part of their family, and I wonder, "why not me?" You'd be passing up a terrific opportunity to find true love if you pass up the chance to get to know, and adopt me. By the way, I'm really cute and have a great, outgoing personality. And, F.Y.I., I really do NOT enjoy being an orphan.
