Olafur Eliasson - Your mobile expectations: BMW H2R project
Currently (until July 20, 2008), the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich presents “Your mobile expectations: BMW H2R project” by Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson (born 1967). Olafur Eliasson was commissioned by the car company BMW to design the 16th BMW Art Car. What sets Eliasson’s “car” apart from previous Art Cars is that it is not recognizable as a car anymore. Olafur Eliasson has removed the outer covering of the BMW H2R racing car and replaced it with a complex skin of metal spanning the body of the car. This shape is covered with ice.

A first look at the 5th Berlin Biennial for Contemporary Art. The Berlin Biennale was founded in 1996 by Klaus Biesenbach, founding director of KW Institute for Contemporary Art, and a group of collectors and patrons of the arts. The aim of Berlin Biennial is to organise a representative, international exhibition of contemporary art in Berlin every two years and to attract attention to less established younger artists.

Starting with Jean Tinguely’s drawing machines from the 1950s, the exhibition jointly organized by the Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt and the Museum Tinguely presents art machines from different ages and contexts through to the present day. The first part of the video documentary by VernissageTV shows works by Tim Lewis, Jon Kessler, Olafur Eliasson, Andreas Zybach, Michael Beutler, Pawel Althamer, Tue Greenfort, Damien Hirst and Jean Tinguely.
The artists Gert and Uwe Tobias (German, born Romania, 1973) are twin brothers. Their collaborative work centers on large-scale woodcuts, but also includes typewriter drawings and watercolors, handmade ceramic sculptures, and wooden constructions. They became internationally known with their exhibition at the Museum of Moderna Art MoMA in New York in 2007/2008.

CaixaForum by Herzog and de Meuron architects
The CaixaForum Madrid is a new cultural center in the historical center of Madrid, near the renowned Prado, Reina Sofia and Thyssen-Bornemisza museums, designed by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, the 2001 Pritzker Architecture Prize winners.
At ARCO 2008 in Madrid, [DAM] Gallery Berlin presented the digital art installation "TI" by C.E.B. Reas as part of ARCO’s "Expanded Box" section. "TI" has been in included in group shows at Pratt Manhattan Gallery in New York and at the Block Museum of Art, Northwestern University in Chicago. C.E.B. Reas lives and works in Los Angeles. Reas is associate professor and chair of the department of Design | Media Arts at the University of California, Los Angeles. He focuses on defining processes and translating them into images. With Ben Fry, Reas initiated Processing.org in 2001. Processing is an open source programming language and environment for creating images, animation, and interaction. During our stay in Madrid we not only visited ARCO, Madrid’s international fair for contemporary art. We were also invited to take part of a gallery crawl, organized by the tourist offices of Spain and Madrid. Our first stop was Galería Helga de Alvear where we saw Isaac Julien’s “Western Union: Small Boats”, an exhibition who’s topic is African migrants trying to enter Europe. At ARCO 2008, the 27th edition of the International Contemporary Art Fair in Madrid, Spain, we met with Vera Cortês, the director of the eponymous gallery in Lisbon, Portugal.
