I remember 1960. It was a magic year. Check these commercials: Ford, Gilette, Kodak, Lucky Strike, Coca Cola, Quakero and Timex watches.
Great memories from advertising in television. Sure fun, if you're old enough.
A classic 1960 Chevy Corvair Infommercial - that seems to directly address Ralph Nader's objections in his book, Unsafe at Any Speed. If you do not know the history - the Chevy Corvair was a super cool car.... that got crushed because of concerns raised in Nader's book. For its day - the car was really no less safe than the rest of the lot, especially after the modifications to reduce rollovers. None of this mattered - the car was doomed commercially. Too bad - it was a really cool car.
This 1966 TV commercials is full of Coca Cola Co. products: Craker Jack, Coca Cola with Anita Bryant, Sprite, Tab, more Coke.
TV ads from Coca Cola, Minute maid, Sprite, tab, Colgate, American Gas Companies and Palmolive.
Two great commercial from Schweppes and Heinz Pickles with a pure 007 style, after all is 1965!!!
Great Coca Cola ad and a classic TV Commercial for Oil Heat. It features a famous actress taking a nice hot shower and expounding on the thrilling experience of taking a hot shower. Powered of course by oil heat. So who is the actress you ask? Why none other than Charlotte Rae, best known as the house mother Mrs. Garrett on Facts of Life which first aired in August 1979 on NBC.
A classic Ajax Cleanser TV Commercial. Cool cartoon characters sing a wonderful jingle and scrub the bathroom clean till it sparkles. Throughout the 2nd ad, no matter what your tummy looks like, Alka Seltzer has the cure when you get an upset stomach. Features tummies of all shapes and sizes - from oversized executives to tight stomachs of supermodels with six packs in a bikini. Another Coca Cola ad and finally a public service announcement for drinking and driving.
From 1961 a commercial from ez popcorns, Maxewell Coffee House and a very strange one from Renault Cars
I remember 1960. It was a magic year. Check these commercials: Ford, Gilette, Kodak, Lucky Strike, Coca Cola, Quakero and Timex watches.
a classic Hertz Rental Car tv commercial. The opening scene features a shot of the lighthouse in Hillsboro Beach, Florida. Then the happy couple, singing like crazy, go deep sea fishing before pulling into the docks at Hillsboro Inlet marina with their sailfish. Other landmarks include the distintive French Quarter in New Orleans. But the big finish - the couple flying through the air and gently landing in a speeding automobile cruising down the highway is too good to miss. Wow - those 1950s special effects really rock! The second ad is a classic tv commercial for Maypo Breakfast Cereal. And you betcha - this terrific cereal commercial has the killer line - I Want My Maypo, which became the tagline of all the Maypo commercials.
A classic Carling Black Label Beer tv commercial. A Coca Cola refreshing new feeling and finally a classic Gillette Razor blades tv commercial. This one features a singing and dancing cartoon parrot who wants to know if you have any blades.
Great old commercials from Kool Shake, Minute Rice and Maxwell House Coffe
A classic Chrysler car commercial from 1956 featuring the forward look, a sleek aerodynamic style innovation that heralded the age of those cool fins on the tails of cars made in the 1950.
A Coca Cola ad with The Lion and The Mouse. The mouse gets caught by the lion and begs for mercy. He is released and promises to help the lion someday. Later - the mouse gnaws through the rope on the hunter's snare and saves the trapped lion, tangled in the hunter's net. The lion and the mouse enjoy a cool refreshing coke after it is all over.
Great memories from 1950 (If You're Old Enough) COUNTRY CORN FLAKES
James Dean in an ironic PSA (public service announcement) for driving safety with Gig Young. A disinterested Dean tells young kids to drive safely and that the life you might save, could be his. (Dean was killed in a terrible car wreck in his Porsche 550 Spyder, which was a convertible sports car. He had already received a ticket for speeding that same day!) Following a Coca Cola ad.
A classic from Coca Cola
A wonderful blast from the past, from 1952 - the I Like Ike presidential campaign ad for Dwight D. Eisenhower, who served two terms (1953-1961) as President of the United States. This ad is a less than slick cartoon with some terrific caricatures. Ike was the 34th President and served as Supreme Commander for US troops on D-Day, the massive beach landing on the French coast that led to the end of World War II. The tone of this political ad from 50 years ago is in sharp contrast to the ads we suffer through today - and we hope that the people who make these ads gain some insight for future presidential campaign themes.
