We spotted bottlenose, Striped, and here is some footage of some Pilot whales. These are actually members of the dolphin family, as are Killer whales.
In September 06, I spent two weeks on a dolphin research vessel. A restored historic Norwegian fishing ship called the Toftevaag. Our mission is a long term study of Mediterranean cetaceans which will hopefully crystallise into a network of marine protected areas. This little adventure is a volunteer program run by EarthWatch.

Spanish dolphin EarthWatch expedition: Sept 06 Frustrated with the bad weather that was sweeping the Mediterranean, we ventured out into high seas in search of dolphins to catalogue, in the restored sailing ship, the Toftevaag. I was very happy to be back in port that afternoon. I was told that the colour of my face matched the colour of my hat.

Spanish dolphin EarthWatch expedition: Sept 06 One day, on returning to port, we were notified of a beached dolphin. It turned out to be a baby Risso dolphin. Unfortunately, it didn't survive the night.
Spanish dolphin EarthWatch expedition: Sept 06 This is a montage (nice way of saying 'odds and ends') of footage taken on board the Toftevaag. I've laid a bit of music down to spice it up a bit. Some of this footage was shot fairly late in the trip, as evidenced by the flapping clothing decorating the deck.
