Veoh Networks and FEARnet Strike Content Partnership
PHILADELPHIA, PA AND SAN DIEGO, CA – (January 24, 2008) – Veoh Networks (www.veoh.com), the world's most comprehensive Internet Television service, and FEARnet, the world's premier horror and thriller website and video on-demand service, have partnered to bring FEARnet's popular content to Veoh's 23 million monthly viewers. The deal, in which the two companies will share advertising revenue, allows FEARnet to greatly increase exposure for its compelling programming and helps Veoh further extend its position as the ultimate source for both network and independent TV programming on the Web.
FEARnet, which launched in 2006, boasts an unrivaled modern horror library that brings together content from the two top film studios producing horror movies - Sony Pictures Television and Lionsgate – and Comcast, the nation's leading provider of cable, entertainment and communications products and services. Beginning in early February, FEARnet will launch a branded Internet TV channel on Veoh that will feature a mix of its popular titles such as 30 Days of Night: Blood Trails, Devil's Trade and Buried Alive, as well as feature films, hair-raising celebrity interviews and coverage from top horror conventions. In addition, FEARnet is currently developing a slate of new original programming for 2008 that will be featured in its Veoh channel.
"FEARnet has already seen great success with Veoh. Our first two shows on Veoh generated over 1 million views in only two weeks, so we are thrilled to build an even deeper content syndication and programming relationship with them," said Diane Robina, President, FEARnet. "By creating a dedicated channel on Veoh, we're making it easy for Veoh's viewers to find and watch our original programming and cult classic horror and thriller feature films."
"We know that millions of Veoh viewers love horror, so this partnership gives FEARnet a unique opportunity to connect with and build an even larger audience for its content online," said Jennifer Betka, SVP of Marketing and Programming for Veoh Networks. "With the addition of FEARnet's programming, Veoh now offers viewers the broadest array of cable and network television shows, film content, independent Web productions and popular videos on the Internet."
The FEARnet partnership complements Veoh's hyper-aggregation strategy, which aims to give viewers access to the best of network TV and film, plus the best of independent studio productions and user-generated content -- all through one easy-to-use service. The deal follows on the heels of Veoh's recently announced partnership with Viacom's MTV Networks, which will bring popular shows from MTV, VH1, COMEDY CENTRAL and other MTV Networks to Veoh's vast universe of content.
FEARnet recently celebrated its first anniversary on Halloween 2007. With its mix of pulse-pounding original minisode series, and feature-length horror and thriller favorites, the FEARnet VOD channel and the FEARnet.com website have generated more than 100 million programming views. FEARnet's original programming line-up has generated a major buzz for the multi-platform network. The two short form mini-series created in collaboration with Ghost House Pictures -- Devil's Trade and 30 Days of Night: Blood Trails (a companion to the cult favorite graphic novel and 30 Days of Night feature film) have generated more than 2 million and 4.5 million views respectively. Its latest original event, Buried Alive -- an innovative, daily six week minisode series produced by Sony Pictures Television that took viewers on a terrifying trek across the Internet to discover the eerie mysteries and secrets behind the program's pulsating plotline – also struck a chord with audiences, garnering more than 1.4 million views during its run.About Veoh Networks, Inc.
