This is a collection of Okinawan song and Dance Performances from the 25th Annual Okinawan Festival held in Honolulu Hawaii on August 31st to September 2nd 2007. The performers come both from Okinawa and from Hawaii and belong to various Okinawan cultural organizations dedicated to keeping the Uchinanchu Spirit and Culture alive.

This video is of a play that was performed at the Hawaii United Okinawa Associations Performance Hall. It took place August 30th 2007. The play is the Story of Toyama Kyuzo who is considered to be the father of Okinawan Emmigration to Hawaii and from there the world. The play is performed by the Children of Kin Town Okinawa who came to Hawaii to help celebrate the 25th Annual Okinawa Festival. It was Produced by Daiichii Harata a famous choreographer from Okinawa Japan who also did the closing ceremony for the 4th worldwide uchinanchu festival in Okinawa in 2006. Enjoy!
This is a performance we saw in Hawaii of the Yui Daiko. They performed this taiko routine before the theatrical production of Toyama Kyuzo "Eyes of the Future". The group is composed of Jr. High School Students from Kin Town in Okinawa.

This is a performance group called Hanayakara. They performed at Honolulu's Kapiolani Park and were a huge hit. Their act includes many aspects of Okinawan culture and is a must see if you ever get a chance to see them in person. My dream would be to one day see them come and perform in the Chicagoland area for all of the landlocked uchinanchu people here. I hope you enjoy the video!
