I love classic movies so anything from musical, westerns, mystery and anything in between this is the place to be.
An alien (Klaatu) with his mighty robot (Gort) land their spacecraft on Cold War-era Earth just after the end of World War II. They bring an important message to the planet that Klaatu wishes to tell to representatives of all nations. However, communication turns out to be difficult, so, after learning something about the natives, Klaatu decides on an alternative approach.
Experimental pilot testing a new rocket powered craft (actually a Convair F-102 interceptor) manages to fly into the future and land at the now deserted airbase he left. He ends up in a city with people who are suspicious he is a spy and who want to keep him to procreate with the rulers daughter because the majority of the inhabitants are sterile. He manages to escape and return to his own time but ages dramatically.
Enjoy
Bertolucci's most acclaimed film. Enjoy!

Ivan the Terrible, Part One (1944, Sergei Eisenstein)
*This film is subtitled!* A classic Sergei Eisenstein masterpiece. This is the first of his two films about the Russian Tsar Ivan The Terrible.

Ivan the Terrible Part II (1945, Sergei Eisenstein)
Eisenstein's continuation of Ivan's tale.
Pasolini's adaption of the play by the same name.
One of Bunuels few non-surreal film, infact it's probably his most commercial film. Yet also one of his highest praised. It's most known English title is The Strange Passion.

The Testament of Dr. Mabuse (1933, Fritz Lang)
One of Langs most acclaimed German films.
This is actually a English language film but it is directed by one of the greatest non-english directors of all time. My favorite director infact: Jean-Luc Godard. This is without a doubt one of the weirdest films ever made and doesn't seem to follow much logic. This film is not on dvd and I doubt you will be able to get the VHS anywhere so enjoy : )
Part 1/2 One of Powells last films. A comedy set in Australia! It's not a non-enlish language film but it's far away from the studio grips and it's quite funny.
Part 2/2 of Powell's Australian comedy. Enjoy.
The second film in Bergman's faith trilogy. It has nothing to do with the other two other than themes so you should have no problems watching it. It's not as preachy as you might expect and it's rather bleak. In my opinion it should be suitable for everyone with or without a religion.
Part 1 of 2 of this classic. CoP is one of the highest recognized films of all time and is in the TSPDT top 25.
Part 2/2 of this classic French masterpiece.
Yet a film from the brilliant Sergei Eisenstein.
This is Orson Welles' famous "unfinished" Spanish film. It's actually pretty much complete actually, nothing seems to be missing - the story works fine. Sadly the picture quality is seriously damaged in several sequences and it's dubbed to english. Still this film shows Welles' genius and he does a lot of stuff fairly revolutionary for the time. Hope you will enjoy it! Let me know what you think.
One of Herzogs most recent films. Not one of his best IMO but it's quite a nice little film that should be seen, especially if you are a Herzog fan.
One of Polanski's highest regarded. Brilliant British film and a must for every film fan.
Bergmans only horror films. Quite a oddity and very creepy. Great effects too! Starring Liv Ullmann and Max Von Sydow.
