Mahela Jayawardene 72| Sri Lanka Vs Australia| World Cup 2007
Fantastic innings by the Sri Lankan captain.
For someone who had teething problems at the start, Sri Lankan batsman Chamara Silva is proving to be an almost unstoppable run-scoring machine at the World Cup. Silva scored 61 and 152 not out in only his second test to set up a series-levelling victory in New Zealand in December 2006. He then stroked a majestic 107 not out in the final one-dayer in India in February. Although India won to clinch the series 2-1, Silva's sparkling stroke play won him the man-of-the-match award.
A bizzare incident, keep your eyes closely on the ball.

Post match presentation includes interviews with the two captains Lara and Jayawardene as well as the Man of the Match Sanath Jayasuriya
An unfortunate dismissal? Or do the Sri Lankan's practice this? If the ball is hit back to them you can almost always see their bowlers attempting this.

Super Eights: West Indies v Sri Lanka at Providence - Apr 1, 2007
30th Match, Super Eights: West Indies v Sri Lanka at Providence - Apr 1, 2007 Sri Lanka won by 113 runs. Sri Lanka 303/5 (50 ov); West Indies 190 (44.3 ov). West Indies lurched a step closer to leaving their own World Cup as Sanath Jayasuriya's 115 condemned them to a 113-run defeat in front of a rare full house in Guyana. He and Mahela Jayawardene added 183 and then early wickets buried West Indies' chase before it had barely begun, Jayasuriya adding three to his outstanding innings. After their heart-stopping defeat against South Africa, Sri Lanka's Super Eights campaign is back on track. From the moment Jayasuriya cut loose following a cautious start it was all one-way traffic. West Indies' fielding turned into shambles with dropped chances and fumbles as their World Cup dreams were left hanging by a thread. Even three straight wins - an unlikely prospect on current form and attitude - might not be enough unless other results go their way.
Sri Lanka's express fast bowler Lasith Malinga rocked the 2007 World Cup by claiming four wickets in four successive deliveries (including a hat-trick) but could not prevent South Africa from squeezing a tense 1 wicket victory in the Super Eight match at Guyana On Wednesday. Malinga became the fifth bowler in World Cup history to claim a hat-trick. Malinga's deadly blow in the 45th over picked Shaun Pollock, whom he bowled for 13 and then followed it up by inducing a catch off Andrew Hall to Upul Tharanga to reduce the Proteas to 205 for 7. He then returned next over to claim the set Jacques Kallis caught behind for 86 and followed up next with a deadly yorker to remove Makhaya Ntini for naught. His feat is unprecedented in ODI history for becoming the only bowler to claim four wickets in four balls, including a hat-trick.

Australia v South Africa at Basseterre - Mar 24|World Cup 2007
The first-round match between South Africa and Australia threatened to be a repeat of the epic at the Wanderers, but St Kitts' Warner Park is no Wanderers, and history steadfastly refused to repeat itself. Australia comfortably defended their 377 for 6, which was set up by Matthew Hayden's fastest World Cup century, and South Africa finished 83 runs adrift.

Mathew Hayden & Herschelle Gibbs Awarded Honarary Citizenship|St. Kitts & Nevis
Mathew Hayden and Herschelle Gibbs were honored for their performances in the recent world cup with honarary citizenship by the prime minister of St. Kitts And Nevis. Gibbs for his 6 sixes in an over and Hayden for the fastest World Cup century and the fastest century by an australian. Make of it what you will, even the players themselves looked surprised.
20th Match, Group B: India v Sri Lanka at Port of Spain - Mar 23, 2007 Sri Lanka won by 69 runs Sri Lanka 254/6 (50 ov); India 185 (43.3 ov). Inspired by a genius who raised his game when the occasion demanded, Sri Lanka overpowered India in their final league match at Port-of-Spain and stormed into the Super Eights. India suffered one of their most disappointing days in recent memory, muffing up a run-chase on a pitch posing no worries, and were all but ousted from the World Cup, in what is likely to be their worst campaign since 1979.
Chamara Silva of Sri Lanka pulls of a remarkable shot on one foot from outside the off stump over mid wicket for six.
Chamara Silva once again impressed with an electric finish full of stylish strokes, especially an astonishing one-legged flick for six from a delivery that pitched outside off stump.
Rest in Peace Bob Woolmer, Cricket's greatest tragedy.
11th Match, Group C: Canada v England at Gros Islet - Mar 18, 2007 England won by 51 runs England 279/6 (50 ov); Canada 228/7 (50 ov). After the disciplinary problems of the previous day England managed to keep their focus, dispatching Canada by 51 runs in St Lucia, to open their World Cup account. Ed Joyce and Paul Collingwood hit sixties as England began and ended their batting strongly before early inroads with the ball put the result beyond doubt. But while England have avoided adding their name to the list of upsets from Saturday, the performance didn't quell the major doubts surrounding the team. As against New Zealand the batting faltered with the loss of three top-order wickets, this time for eight runs, then there was a lack of cutting edge from the bowling attack when the threat of the new ball had disappeared.
After their shocking defeat to Ireland and their first round exit of the 2007 World Cup, the Pakistani players woke up the folowwing day to the tragic news of the death of Bob Woolmer their overseas coach and to most mentor and friend. Many conspiracy theories and and an autopsy later, we now have evidence of some foul play. How tragic and how sad that a sport can induce such emotion that could drive someone or a group of individuals into taking the life of a great caoch and family man. Rest in peace bob, i sure hope there will be some closure for the Woolmer family and justice will be served. Cricket has an uncanny knack of bury important topics and sweeping away serious issues and concerns.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2007|Bangladesh Vs India | India Fall Of Wickets
A sustained spell of seam bowling was followed by a strangling session from a trio of left-arm spinners as Bangladesh took some giant strides towards upsetting India in their World Cup opener at Port-of-Spain. Losing the toss was probably a blessing in disguise as Bangladesh's bowlers turned in an efficient, and often inspired, performance to restrict India to a modest 191.
