  • A clip from Capcom's Rival Schools 2: Project Justice. I thought this character was funny, as he isn't dressed up in a superhero-ish uniform, but merely appears as a regular teacher (with giant, iron shoulder pads).

  • I recorded two other segments as the Skyliner express train zipped along from Narita to Tokyo. The third is on MiniDV, but there's someting I've not yet been able to figure out about transferring video to the hard drive.

  • A walkthrough at the Senso-ji complex in Asakusa-ku, eastern Tokyo. I ought to have stopped recording at the 2:30 mark, but I thought there'd be something nice to frame once I walked out of the eastern doors. Nope. Still, it was good to be able to go back and see those ceiling murals again. It was 7 a.m. on a Sunday, which is why there were so few people.

  • Oh My. I thought this was an arcade the first time I walked by (the posters on the door had me thinking they had anime-themed games inside). And they diid. But not the kind I thought. I'd never seen full-on pachinko before, and I was most taken by the sound in that place. I could quickly understand how people get drawn into that for such long periods of time, because it's almost like angels or transdimensional avatars harmonizing. And you can win cash and prizes. Well, I don't know about cash, but there's got to be something.

  • A brief bit from an NHK show about African people and culture in Japan. This was the first thing I saw when I turned on the hotel TV. Reminded me of the delight at seeing a program about Mali on NHK back in September. I stopped it, though, because they went from presenting the diversity of foods and dress to the spread of AIDS. Obviously, it's a terrible affliction and burden for millions, but I was a little leery about the presentation of victimhood. As it turned out, though, the segment that followed featured several orphaned students who were part of a performing arts troupe.
