A tough loss for the Hokies, but still some decent highlights of which to be proud.
The ACC championship game between the Coastal Division Champions Virginia Tech and the Atlantic Division Champions Boston College. Virginia Tech won this game 30-16 after trailing 10-0 early in the first half. The Hokies blocked a field goal and an extra point, which they returned for two points. They Hokies got a late fourth quarter TD to take the lead 23-16 and then Ryan threw a pair of late INTs, including one that was returned for a TD to seal the Tech win, 30-16. Virginia Tech will play in the Orange Bowl in Miami on Jan. 3. The Hokies and Eagles met earlier this season on a cold, rainy Thursday night. Tech led 10-0 with less than three minutes to go, but Heisman candidate and Boston College QB Tim Ryan led two late scoring drives to break the Hokies hearts and win 14-10.
The Hokies and Hoos faced off on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007 with the ACC's Coastal Division on the line. Virginia Tech, 9-2 entering the game, was looking for its fourth straight win over instate rival Virginia, also 9-2. Behind a balanced offensive and great-when-they-needed-it defense, Virginia Tech beat the Hoos 33-21 in Charlottesville to claim its second Coastal Division title in three years. Al Groh, head coach at Virginia, is not 1-6 against the Hokies. Good thing the rivalry isn't of the same caliber as Ohio State-Michigan or he would probably be fired.
The Hokies got tough test at home from the rebuilding Tarheels. New UNC coach Butch Davis has a ton of true freshman that showed some promise this season and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if UNC ends up a bowl team in a couple of years.

A quick preview by CSN of the Virginia Tech Hokies vs. Miami Hurricanes game on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007 at 3:30 p.m. It is Tech's final home game of the '07 season. Tech is 8-2 and has a shot at making the ACC title game with a win next week at 9-1 Virginia. The Hurricanes need a win in their last two games to earn a 10th straight bowl appearance. This game has no bearing on the ACC championship game race, but Tech and Miami have a rivalry that transcend all other "meaning."
During the 'Noles key ACC game against Virginia Tech, FSU QB Drew Weatherford was on the receiving end of a devastating hit that knocked him out ... of the game.
The Hokies beat FSU 40-21 in Blacksburg on Nov. 10, 2007. The win snaps a 12-game losing streak to the 'Noles spanning three decades. The win also gave Hokies Head Coach Frank Beamer his first career win against FSU. For more Hokies stuff, visit VTHokieFans.com and vt.fanfoc.us.

VTHokieFans.com - This was a tough game to watch from a Hokies perspective, but I can appreciate the kids on the Boston College sideline, who did not give up. At the same time, the Tech players, particularly the defense, played their guts out. And the fans ... you can't say enough about the fans who braved cold temperatures and tropical downpours to see this game.
