What is Depression? How to solve it
Bhante Vimalaramsi discusses the problem of depression and what causes it and how one may solve this problem once and for all by employing a meditation technique. Suicide and depression have become a talked about topic on various Web spaces recently.
In this first talk at a Retreat Bhante Vimalaramsi gives a talk that prepares the student to start a retreat. First he gives them the Precepts (19min) and explains them thoroughly and then gives the basic instructions to do the meditation (26min) This is an excellent detailed instruction video on how to do the meditation in the way of the Tranquil Wisdom taught by the Buddha through the path of Lovingkindness up through all of the Brahma Vihara's to Nibbana itself.

Intro to Meditation Pt 1: Anapanasati Breathing
In this talk Bhante Vimalaramsi gives the full instructions for practicing the breath meditation AS THE BUDDHA taught it. The Buddha did not teach one-pointed concentration which is currently taught by Vipassana teachers, but rather a "knowing of the breath" meditation. One does not focus on the sensation but on knowing of the breath. Then a step is added, as directed by the Anapanasati Sutta MN 118 and the Sathipatthana Sutta, which is to recognize and then RELAX into any distractions. Please see the talk for more details.
