If you can get ahold of Higurashi no naku koro ni AKA When they Cry (dubb), thats a perfect show for you. oh yeah omg Vampire Hunter D is kind of a sci-fi magic anime; and stuff like Evangelion and Raxzephon.

Lately I've been watching D. Gray-Man and Macross Frontier. If you haven't seen either D. Gray-Man is definitely in the magic category while Macross Frontier is in the realm of Sci-Fi. If you're a sucker for the sad anime they both have their moments, especially Macross.
