Probably one of the better documentaries, mostly seems pro-cannabis and by far the most pro-cannabis documentary thus far released by the History Channel. The documentary attempts to educate everyone who still has a Reefer Madness mindset, who still thinks cannabis prohibition is reasonable, and who have no idea that widespread cannabis use is relatively harmless compared to alcohol, tobacco, and especially pharmaceutical and other drugs.

PANORAMA EPHEMERA (2004, 89:35 min., color and black and white), compiled by Rick Prelinger (http://www.prelinger.com/) from his own Prelinger Collection, is a collage of sequences drawn from a wide variety of ephemeral (industrial, advertising, educational and amateur) films, touring the conflicted landscapes of twentieth-century America. The films' often-skewed visions construct an American history filled with horror and hope, unreeling in familiar and unexpected ways. The film focuses on familiar and mythical activities and images in America (1626-1978). Many creatures and substances that we hardly notice because we feel so used to them take center stage, including pigs, corn, water, telephones, fire, and rice. At first resembling a compilation, it soon reveals itself as a journey through the American landscape over time, and the story begins to emerge between the sequences. The film consists of 64 self-contained film sequences ranging from 5 seconds to 4 minutes in length arranged into a narrative. Unlike many films made using archival footage, it's primarily a combination of sequences rather than a collage of individual shots. PANORAMA EPHEMERA is populated by American children, animals, farmers, industrial workers, superheroes, pioneers heading West, crash test dummies, and many others. LSD: Insight or Insanity (1967) was a short film that condemned the use of LSD and "acid". What's makes this short different than the others was the vocal narration from has been actor Sal Mineo. After appearing in some high prolific productions, Mr. Mineo has all but disappeared from the spotlight. But he not only provides a narration for this film, but he gives the viewers an added bonus. He performs the vocals of the song that plays during the end credits. What's even funnier is the fact that he comes off sounding like a curmudgeon. Talking down to the people in the movie and the youth in general. I would be bitter too if I went from REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE to narrating an anti-drug short. Sal would have one last shot in the big leagues when he played in ESCAPE FROM PLANET OF THE APES.

Also about the entire meat process - from livestock ranchers to transportation to stockyards to meatpacking to your grocery store. Missing the slaughterhouse though. Then we see a butcher explaining about how to get four meals out of one shank of ham.
